Clean Living

So I’m totally guilty of becoming “that mom”. And I’m not really mad about it, lol. Actually I’ve been using natural products and essential oils on and off for years however decided to make it apart of my everyday life pretty recently.

My main reason being Jameson. I always obsess over what’s around him. What’s in his food, what I wash his clothes with, what I do his dishes with, and the cleaning products I use on his high chair and toys. And after trying a ton of different brands, and finding out they really aren’t as “safe” and “natural” as they advertise, I figured why not bring it back to the basics? Most of these products say they contain essential oils anyway so why not make my own safer versions of things? Not to mention that it’s actually saving us a ton of money lol.🤷‍♀️😂

So anywho, I wanted to share a few of my safe swaps with you guys, because they are chemical free and literally take like 2 minutes to put together 💚

*I only trust Young Living’s therapeutic-grade oils around my little babe because there are no dangerous fillers in them (a lot of other brands don’t source their own oils so they can contain harmful chemicals)*

High Chair Cleaner

1/4 cup vinegar + 3 cups water + 10 drops lemon essential oil

Mix together in a glass spray bottle and your good to go

Air Freshener

Diffuser + Water + 1 drop lemon + 1 drop peppermint + 1 drop lavender

Just fill water to the fill line, add in oils and plug it in

Diaper Cream

1/2 cup organic coconut oil + 5 drops Lavender essential oil

Just melt coconut oil, mix in lavender and let it solidify in a small glass jar

Trash/Diaper Pail Freshener

1 cotton ball + 2 drops of YL’s Purification blend

Place a couple drops of oil right into the cotton ball and toss into the bottom of the bag

Dryer Sheets

4 wool dryer balls + 2 drops Lemon + 2 drops Lavender

Put 4-5 drops of essential oil right on each wool dryer ball and place them in the dryer We also use Thieves cleaning line for all of our laundry and dishes! And it honestly give me such peace of mind knowing every ingredient in everything that I’m using. Annnnd that it all comes from plants 🌿✌️

If you’re ever curious about what’s in the products you are using check out the ThinkDirty app (not sponsored just love it). It lets you scan the barcode of the product, tells you what the ingredients are, and rates it on how safe it is. Also if you’re interested more about oils I made an Instagram page containing more DIYs and everyday hacks and would love to have you join us! @lilacsandlemon

I would love to hear your favorite DIYs ❤️

    1. Our diffuser runs for 4 hours so the first thing I do in the morning is turn it on and let it run the 4 hours and it stays smelling amazing the rest of the day! I have so many great diffuser combos but my other faves are YL’s Stress away + peppermint and also Purification + lemon ! (:

  1. I love purification on my wool dryer balls! I was the exact same way with Logan and now all his products are homemade too!!! Thanks for the new ideas!

  2. Nice to see another natural living mama out there! I use doTERRA oils, but for the same reason — no fillers, and it’s so much cheaper and safer than stuff from the store. I was off and on with using them for myself before my babies came along, but now I read labels, compare ingredients, homemake stuff all the time, and go natural as much as I can!
I love your high chair cleaner idea! I cloth diaper, and I’ve made my own cloth wipes by getting some little baby washcloths and putting them in a container of water with some lavender, lemon, and melaleuca oils to keep them fresh and cleansing. 🙂
